5 Things You Always Wanted to Know About Microblogging
Writing a microblog is a great way to practice your writing skills. Here are five
1. What is a microblog?
Microblogging consists of very short messages or ‘updates’ you send out via
the internet. Some microblogs only allow you a maximum of 140 characters
and so it is also known as ‘blogging for lazy people’. Probably the best-known
microblogging site is Twitter. It’s easy to set up an account and start your
English language blog.
2. What does Twitter do?
When you have set up your Twitter account you can send out messages to all
your contacts or ‘followers’. These messages are called ‘tweets’. You can get all
your friends and classmates to become your followers and you can follow
other Twitter users too – including famous film stars and pop stars.
3.Twitter has created a lot of special words or ‘jargon’.
‘tweeple’ – people in your Twitter network.
‘dweet’ – a tweet sent when you are drunk.
‘mistweet’ – a tweet you later regret.
‘twitterati’ – cool, A-list tweeters who have thousands of followers.
